School of HES Graduate Student Research Day has great turnout

Engaging in research and discovery is an important part of the mission of the School of Human Environmental Sciences. On April 1, 2016, the School recognized student’s excellent research by holding the third Graduate Student Research Day (GSRD). Sponsored by the Research Center for Families and Children, graduate students in the three academic departments of the School were invited to submit research posters for review and presentation. 


Student Organization Profile: Phi Upsilon Omicron

The Phi Upsilon Omicron (Phi U), Iota Chapter is a student honor society open to students in all majors in the School of Human Environmental Sciences (HES). It seeks to develop the leadership qualities and the professionalism that are essential post-graduation. The organization accomplishes this by completing projects in the community that are related to issues addressed in disciplines in the School of HES.


Student Organization Profile: CHAARG

Changing Health, Attitudes, + Actions to Recreate Girls (CHAARG) is a national women’s health and fitness organization that recently expanded to UK’s campus. The first CHAARG chapter was founded in 2012 and the organization has quickly grown to 29 established chapters across the nation. CHAARG’s vision is to change the common female mentality regarding fitness. The organization’s initial ideas began with showing females exactly how fun fitness can and should be.


School of HES Celebrates 2015 Grants and Scholarly Publications

The School of Human Environmental Sciences recently celebrated scholarly accomplishments from 2015 with special recognitions for faculty and staff. The number of externally-funded grant projects remained strong, with 15 projects totaling more than $6.8 million secured to support the research and outreach work of the School during the calendar year. The School also recognized those with scholarly work published through refereed journal articles, peer-reviewed books and book chapters, and Extension numbered-series publications.
