Grants available to improve food insecurity for rural children
The Rural Child Poverty Nutrition Center at the University of Kentucky is accepting grant applications to help lower instances of childhood hunger in some of the nation’s most persistently poor areas.
2015 School of HES Student Awards Announced
Friday, May 1, the School of Human Environmental Sciences recognized twelve outstanding students through the presentation of the 2015 Student of Excellence and Student of Distinction Awards. The awards program was established in 2006, and honors both outstanding undergraduate and graduate students. Undergraduates are nominated based on academic excellence, leadership, and service in the School of Human Environmental Sciences.
School of HES Celebrates 2014 Grants and Scholarly Publications
In January, the School of Human Environmental Sciences celebrated scholarly accomplishments from 2014. It was a record-setting year with more than $14 million in grant funding secured to support the research and outreach work of the School. The individuals who lead and conduct the 14 externally-funded projects were recognized. The School also recognized those with scholarly work published through refereed journal articles, peer-reviewed books and book chapters, and Extension numbered-series publications.

Lexington, Ky.- The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently named the University of Kentucky School of Human Environmental Sciences a national coordinating center for excellence in nutrition education and obesity prevention research.

In efforts to continue to provide affordable counseling services to families, couples and individuals of Lexington, the University of Kentucky Family Centeris now offering a divorce support group for children, as well as free parenting consultations.
