Alice Pile Killpatrick graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1938 with a degree in home economics.  She began her career as a home economist with the Farmers Home Administration in Hardinsburg, Kentucky.  In 1948, she became the first home economics Extension agent in Meade

2016 School of HES Student Awards Announced

The School of Human Environmental Sciences recognized eleven outstanding students through the presentation of the 2016 Student of Excellence and Student of Distinction Awards on April 29, 2016. The awards program, established in 2006, honors both undergraduate and graduate students. Undergraduates are nominated based on academic excellence, leadership, and service in the School of Human Environmental Sciences. Graduate students are nominated based on their research or creative works, leadership and service in the School.

 The School of Human Environmental Sciences is dedicated to the success of our students.  In the fall of 2014, 100 freshmen enrolled in undergraduate programs in the School of Human Environmental Sciences. Of those students, 85% were retained at the University of Kentucky in the fall of 2015, an increase of 3.7% from the fall of 2013 freshmen cohort. The data below provides freshmen to sophomore retention rates for the past five years in the School of Human Environmental Sciences.
