Food System Fellowships Available

Be a leader in sustainable food systems by serving  as a student fellow with Gathering At The Table

Gathering At The Table, an innovative food justice initiative spearheaded by The Food Connection and Campus Kitchen, is now accepting applications to the roles of Emersion Chef Fellow and Food Justice Fellow to serve from January – December 2017. We seek service-oriented students (undergraduate or graduate level) at the University of Kentucky who are motivated, focused, take initiative, and demonstrate an interest in food system-related issues, and exemplifies:

  • Commitment to sustainable agriculture, food systems, and social justice;
  • Leadership as a student at the University of Kentucky;
  • Excellence in organization, written and oral communication, and time-management skills; and
  • Readiness to work autonomously and in team settings

 

Food System Fellowships
The Fellowships pay a $3,000 stipend ($1,000 per semester) for two students who will coordinate and manage the Gathering at the Table: Cultivating Future Leaders in Sustainable Community Food Systems program. Overall duties include providing student leadership to achieve the two goals of this project—training student and community chefs as cooking ambassadors and to prepare dinners centered on food system themes. Graduate and undergraduate students are encouraged to apply.

For those interested in applying to serve as a student fellow, please:

  1. Review the position descriptions (Food Justice Fellow, Emersion Chef Fellow)
  2. Prepare a cover letter that indicates which of the fellowship positions you which to be considered for, and indicates your interest and qualifications for that position. Applicants may elect to be considered for both positions.
  3. Submit the cover letter and a current resume as either a PDF or Microsoft Word file, attached to an email sent to Tanya.whitehouse@uky.edu with the subject line: "Application for Gathering At The Table Student Fellowship"
  4. Applications must be submitted by 5 pm, January 25th.
