Students in the Coordinated Program in Dietetics in the Department of Dietetics and Human NutritionThe School of Human Environmental Sciences would like to recognize the recent success of the students in the Coordinated Program in Dietetics in the Department of Dietetics and Human Nutrition. Liz Combs, Director of the Coordinated Program, shared, "For the past two years, the first time registered dietitian (RD) pass rate is 100% (18 out of 18 students to date), which is an incredible feat. It is a testament to the strength and the organization of the program and the support from the Dietetics and Human Nutrition Department as a whole."

The Coordinated Program (CP) is one option within the DHN program and it combines classroom and lab knowledge with supervised practice experience. More specifically, the CP requires 1,239 total hours of supervised practice, which is a standard set by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. When a student has completed all of the requirements set by the council, they are able to take the Commission on Dietetic Registration national registry exam to earn the credential of Registered Dietitian.

Overall, the excellent success rate can be attributed to the combined dedication of both department faculty and CP students. Faculty continue to strengthen the guidelines of the program and support students in their completion of the CP. Combs added, "We have incredible students that are provided with incredible opportunities to grow and succeed."
