Display of 2017 Piggy Bank WinnersThe University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service is celebrating Kentucky Save$ Week this week, February 27-March 3, 2017.  This statewide campaign encourages individuals and families to save money and build personal wealth and is part of the America Save$ program. 

The celebration once again features recognition of the winners of a statewide youth piggy bank design contest.  The contest provides a creative way for youth to learn the importance of saving money and reducing debt. Eleven winners representing the seven Extension districts have been selected from hundreds of creative piggy bank design entries.  Those winning piggy banks are on display in the Kentucky Capitol near the Rotunda and will remain on display through the end of February.

On February 28th, a special ceremony will be held in the Capitol Rotunda to recognize the youth winners from across the state.  Winners include:

  • Molly Ann Floyd, 3rd grade, Daviess County
  • Leia Hurst, 5th grade, Nicholas County
  • Christopher Sweets, 3rd grade, Warren County
  • Haley Howell, 7th grade, Muhlenberg County
  • Joshua Ross, 1st grade, Livingston County
  • Cathryn Jones, 12th grade, Boyle County
  • Wyatte Goodman, 5th grade, Daviess County
  • Carly Tinius, 5th grade, Daviess County
  • Winston Means, 6th grade, Casey County
  • Hadleigh Linville, 4th grade, Robertson County
  • Emmi Edmonds, 8th grade, Pike County
  • Andrew Rice, 1st grade, Bell County
  • Addison Skaggs, 3rd grade, Perry County
  • Treyton Walker, 8th grade, McCreary County
  • Jessica Bond, 11th grade, Gallatin County
  • Kirin Granstaff, 8th grade, Kenton County
