Professional Profile

Kelly May is the Senior Extension Associate for Family Finance and Resource Management at the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service. In this role, she provides financial tools and resources to Kentucky consumers. She also serves as the state advisor for the Kentucky Extension Homemakers Association.

She joined the Extension team in March of 2019. She is active in several professional associations, including Epsilon Sigma Phi, the Kentucky Association of State Extension Professionals (KASEP), and the Kentucky Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (KEAFCS). She has won several state, regional, and national awards, including in 2021 the Outstanding Extension Associate award from KASEP. She has authored or co-authored several Extension curricula including Recovering Your Finances and Protect Your Life from Scams and Frauds.

She gained her financial expertise during her 12 years as public information officer for the Kentucky Department of Financial Institutions, where she coordinated public relations and educational outreach. She is a member and past president of the Kentucky Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy®. She has also been active with the Association for Financial Counseling & Planning Education®.
