Professional Profile

After graduating in 1999 from EKU with a bachelor’s degree in print journalism, Alyssa Simms worked at several newspapers before settling at the Lexington Herald-Leader in 2001. She worked as a reporter, copy editor, and news designer for seven years before leaving the profession to raise two children.

Alyssa remained a stay-at-home mom for 12 years before returning to part-time work. She uses her expertise as a homemaker to copy edit the various publications that come out of the Extension office including information releases, health bulletins, and teaching programs.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Print Journalism from Eastern Kentucky University with a minor in French earned in 1999
