Professional Profile

Kim Henken joined Extension in 1995 as Extension Associate for Environmental and Natural Resource Issues. In 2002, she transitioned into a similar position in Family and Consumer Sciences Extension. From 2006 to 2021, Henken held communications and leadership roles in the School of Human Environmental Sciences in addition to her assignments in Family and Consumer Sciences Extension and as the State Advisor to the Kentucky Extension Homemakers Association. She currently serves as Director for Extension Engagement and Administrative Initiatives for UK Cooperative Extension with a limited continuing assignment in Family and Consumer Sciences Extension.

In 2016, Kim received the Extension Empowerment Award at the Women in CAFE – Empowering Our Future luncheon. Kentucky Women in Agriculture recognized her in 2007 with presentation of the Laura Clay Leadership Award. In 2002, Kim received the Outstanding Extension Associate Award from the Kentucky Association of State Extension Professionals. She is active in several professional associations, including Epsilon Sigma Phi, the Kentucky Association of State Extension Professionals (KASEP) and the American and Kentucky Associations of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS and KAFCS). She has held leadership roles in Gamma Sigma Delta International, KAFCS, and KASEP.  In addition, she has served as a member of numerous College of Agriculture, Food and Environment committees and on the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment Alumni Board.
