Earlier this summer, Family and Consumer Sciences Extension welcomed three new county Extension Agents for Family and Consumer Sciences to campus for orientation.  We are pleased to have these individuals in place in Estill, Hopkins and Hart County.

Chelsea BicknellChelsea Bicknell, a recent graduate of Berea College with a major in Child and Family Studies, began work as the new County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences in Estill County in June. During her collegiate days Chelsea was active as a student leader in the elementary after-school program, where she worked with 5th grade girls presenting programs and facilitating group discussions. She also worked as a teaching assistant to enhance freshmen writing skills; a program assistant for Promise Neighborhood; and an undergraduate researcher for the Appalachian Foodways oral history project.

Katherine Hahn JuryKatherine Hahn Jury began work on July 1 as the new Hopkins County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences. She received a Bachelor of Science in Child Development from Eastern Kentucky University. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Family Sciences with emphasis in family processes from the University of Kentucky.  At EKU, Katherine was on the Deans and Presidents list every semester. She is a member of Phi Upsilon Omicron and has enjoyed a variety of both paid and volunteer work experience. Some of these include employment in the Nelson County Attorney’s office, the Bardstown Tourist Commission, EKU Disabilities office, Burrier Child Development Center at EKU, Ronald McDonald House and Graduate Assistant for Cooperative Extension.

Betsy Ann TracyBetsy Ann Tracy returns to Cooperative Extension after a 3 year experience in the banking industry. She began her position as the Hart County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences in June.  Betsy Ann previously worked for 6 years in Warren County as the Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences Education and a Master of Arts in Communication, both from Western Kentucky University. Betsy Ann is active in professional organizations, with membership in the Kentucky Association of Family and Consumer Sciences where she was state secretary and district president and secretary/treasurer. She is a member of the National Extension Association for Family and Consumer Sciences where she was previously area president and winner of a national first place Communication Award. She is active in community organizations, especially the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce and the Glasgow Rotary Club.
