Students from the Department of Dietetics and Human Nutrition continue to engage in efforts to fight hunger both locally and globally. Members of the Student Dietetic and Nutrition Association regularly volunteer with God’s Pantry Food Bank in Lexington and have conducted fundraisers to support the feeding program at the Kentucky Academy Kindergarten in the village of Adjeikrom in Ghana.
In February, fifteen students traveled with Dr. Tammy Stephenson, Senior Lecturer, to the Universities Fighting World Hunger Summit in Auburn, Alabama. The summit agenda featured inspirational speakers, networking, and a visit to the Auburn Campus Kitchen. In addition, the attendees completed a service project packing 10,000 meals for Stop Hunger Now.
After returning to campus, the students prepared a video showcasing highlights from the trip.
