On January 23, three new county Extension Agents for Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) attended a one-day orientation with FCS administrators and state staff. We are happy to welcome them into the Extension family and into their roles serving the communities in three different counties of Kentucky.
Sherri Sullivan Broderick is the new Gallatin County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences. While new to her position in Family and Consumer Sciences, she is not new to Cooperative Extension in Kentucky. For the past five years she has worked as the Campbell County Extension Agent for 4-H and Youth Development. She previously worked as a part-time, summer staff assistant in the Gallatin County Extension office. Sherri has also worked as a graduate teaching assistant and as a student staff assistant in the School of Human Environmental Sciences. She holds a Bachelor of Science from the UK College of Communications and Information Studies and a Master of Science from the College of Agriculture in Career, Technical and Leadership Education with certification in Family and Consumer Sciences Education.
Lora Pullin began her Cooperative Extension career on October 14, 2013 in Greenup County as the County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences. She is a graduate of Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Family and Consumer Sciences with an emphasis in food and nutrition. Lora most recently worked for the Ashland Independent School District as their district food service director. Previously she worked as the dietary manager for the King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Lora has a strong academic and clinical background in food and nutrition.
Andrea Johnson is the new Magoffin County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences. She began her position there on January 1, 2014. She is a two year summer intern in the Floyd County Extension Office, working under the direction of FCS Agent, Theresa Scott in 2012 and 2013. She is a December 2013 graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics. Andrea has strong leadership skill and experience in community outreach. She has had experience in organizing educational activities, events and presentations. During her collegiate years, Andrea was an active member of the University of Kentucky Nutrition and Dietetics Student Association, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Bluegrass Dietetic Association.
