Congratulations to Claudia Heath for being named a Distinguished Fellow by the American Council on Consumer Interests (ACCI). Distinguished Fellows are recognized leaders in the consumer field who have contributed significantly to ACCI and have displayed high standards of professional and ethical conduct throughout their careers.
Dr. Claudia Heath is a researcher specializing in issues related to the well-being of families, individuals and specifically, women from both an economic and a family science perspective. Dr. Heath’s instructional responsibilities have included working with the graduate program teaching masters and doctoral research methods and model building, women in the economy, economics of aging and an orientation to doctoral work. At the undergraduate level she teaches research methods, consumer issues, and personal and family finance.
Nationally, Dr. Heath has a history of leadership and service through election to regional and national offices, recognitions and awards. Within the American Council of Consumer Interest, Dr. Heath has served as editor of The Journal of Consumer Affairs, as President of ACCI Board of Directors, member of the Board of Directors, Chair for the 1991 Annual Conference; and as Chair of various ad hoc committees. Additionally she has served as President, Missouri Valley Economic Association; Vice President of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS); recipient of the 1997 Leader Award from AAFCS; and 2001-2002 American Council on Education Fellow.
