Dr. Kwaku Addo, Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences and Interim Chair of the Department of Merchandising, Apparel and Textiles has been appointed as a member of UK's new Global Health Advisory Committee.
The Global Health Advisory Committee will assess the University's readiness to initiate a campus-wide global health program which would integrate service, education and research. The goal of the committee will be to develop a strategic plan and establish priorities for a program which will serve the entire university. The committee is chaired by Sam Matheny, Assistant Provost for Global Health Initiatives and will convene quarterly.
Dr. Addo brings to the committee his expertise in foods and nutrition. In addition, he has been active in international work, leading a study tour to his native Ghana each year since 2005.
Dr. Addo remarked, "I am extremely honored and excited to be asked to serve on the university's global health advisory committee. I look forward to working with others on campus, and to promoting UK as a leader in Global Health initiatives among universities in the US and around the world."
