The Kentucky Operation: Military Kids (OMK) program is offering a free weekend camp for military families! The camp is open to Kentucky families (both parents and children ages 7 and older) from any branch of the military. This includes Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard families. First priority will be given to families that have a service member who has been injured during military service.
The camp, which will be held August 28-29, 2009 at the Life Adventure Center in Versailles, Kentucky, is the third camp offered this summer. Activities will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and conclude at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Kerri Ashurst, Operation: Military Kids Director for Kentucky commented, "The first two camps we held this summer were such a special experience. We were so honored to get to meet some of Kentucky's military families and heroes. We can't wait to hold our third OMK camp and provide another camping opportunity for even more of our Kentucky military families in partnership with Life Adventure Center."
Families will camp in tents, eat as a family, and participate in some very exciting programs and activities planned for the camp. There will be fun programs such as fishing, hiking, crafts and games. Geocaching, a ropes course, a bird walk and a hayride are also planned. Registration has already started, so spread the word about these camps! This is a great chance to make new friends and family memories that will last a lifetime! For more information, contact:
