The Kentucky Operation: Military Kids (OMK) grant is offering free weekend camps for military families! The camps are open to Kentucky families (both parents and children) from any branch of the military. This includes Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard families. First priority will be given to families that have a service member who has been injured during military service.
The first camp will be held May 29-31, 2009 at the West Kentucky 4-H Camp in Dawson Springs, Kentucky. The second camp will be held June 12-14, 2009 at the Lake Cumberland 4-H Educational Center in Nancy, Kentucky. Both camps will start at 5:00 PM on Friday and end at 4:00 PM on Sunday.
Families will stay in cabins as a family, eat as a family and participate in some traditional and some non-traditional camp experiences. There are many exciting programs and activities planned for the camps. There will be fun programs such as archery, fishing, and hiking. There will be educational programs such as cooking, stress management, and digital photography. There will be military programs such as the Wounded Warrior Program, mobile technology lab, Hero Packs, and Military OneSource. Registration has already started, so spread the word about these camps! This is a great chance to make new friends and family memories that will last a lifetime! For more information, contact:
