Ginny EllingtonGinny Ellington, Lecturer in the Department of Family Studies, recently received the 2008 Career and Technical Education Outstanding Educator Award given by the Kentucky Association of Career and Technical Education.  The Outstanding Educator Award recognizes career and technical educators other than full-time classroom and laboratory teachers who have made significant contributions to innovative, unique, and novel programs, and to the advancement of career and technical education.  In her current position, Ellington teaches undergraduate level courses in career and technical education at University of Kentucky, primarily in the Family and Consumer Science Education program.  She also supervises family and consumer sciences student teachers.

Ellington joined the faculty at University of Kentucky in 2003.  Before coming to UK, she taught family and consumer sciences in public high schools and middle schools, served as educational program consultant to the Kentucky Department of Education, served as state adviser for the Kentucky Association of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, and served as state director of family and consumer sciences in the Kentucky Department of Education.

Ellington will represent Kentucky as the nominee for the Association of Career and Technical Education Outstanding Educator Award for Region 2.  The School of Human Environmental Sciences congratulates Ginny on receiving this well-deserved recognition!
