Dr. Kwaku Addo, Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Food Science is again teaming up with colleagues at Prairie View A & M University to lead a study tour to Ghana this spring. The 6-week program includes four weeks of preparatory sessions on the respective campuses from mid-March through mid-April and a two week tour of Ghana May 12-29.
The study tour takes place each May and has been offered three previous years. As part of the trip, students will visit a cocoa processing factory, an orphanage, and the Kakum National Rain Forest. One day will also be spent at the Kentucky Academy, a kindergarten in Adjeikrom that Dr. Addo assisted in establishing.
Dr. Craig Infanger, Extension Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics and a 2007 study tour participant shared, "Dr. Addo has created a uniquely rich international educational opportunity for students and faculty. His prior experiences and good connections with in-country institutions and leaders were key to the success of this program." Vanessa Bradley, a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences stated, "Ghana is the perfect introduction to the world."
