Professional Profile

Rita May began her career in Extension in 1990.  She enjoyed being the Family and Consumer Sciences Agent in Barren County, Kentucky for 6 ½ years.  She received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Extension Association for Family and Consumer Sciences at their 2001 annual meeting in Portland, Oregon. 

In 1996, Rita moved to Lexington to give agent perspective to the Food Stamp Nutrition Education Program.  Her emphasis is nutrition education for the low-income audience.  She now works with both Food Stamp Nutrition Education (FSNE) and Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Programs (EFNEP).
