Professional Profile

Rita May began her career in Extension in 1990. She enjoyed being the Family and Consumer Sciences Agent in Barren County for six and a half years. She received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Extension Association for Family and Consumer Sciences at their 2001 National Meeting in Portland, Oregon.

In 1996 Rita moved to Lexington to give agent perspective to the Food Stamp Nutrition Education Program. Her emphasis has been nutrition education for the low-income audience. As the Food Stamp Nutrition Education Program and Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program merged, Rita has given leadership perspective to the current NEP program. Rita now works in a post-retirement position with NEP.
