Professional Profile

Brooke Jenkins-Howard an Extension Specialist for the Nutrition Education Program at the University of Kentucky.  In collaboration with colleagues, her duties include developing and selecting nutrition education curriculum for paraprofessionals, partners and Extension agents, providing training, and developing the professional skills of paraprofessionals.

Prior to her current position, Brooke worked for 13 years as a County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences in Grant and Magoffin Counties.  In this role, Brooke developed and delivered educational programs in family and child development; food, nutrition, and health; leadership development; and, financial education.  She has worked extensively with Nutrition Education supervising paraprofessionals and delivering education to limited resource audiences.  She served as advisor to Extension volunteers and leaders at the local and area levels.

Brooke is an active member of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.  She is past president of Kentucky affiliate.  She has received the Kentucky Association of Family & Consumer Sciences Leader Award, New Achiever Award, and the Karen Davis-Parker Outstanding Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Agent Award.  Brooke is Vice-President for the Kentucky Association of State Extension Professionals. Brooke was a member of the National Extension Association of Family & Consumer Sciences and received national recognition for Distinguished Service, Environmental Education, research, and communication awards.  Other professional memberships include Epsilon Sigma Phi and Phi Upsilon Omicron.
