On April 6th, the School of Human Environmental Sciences (HES) recognized student excellence in research at the 2018 HES Graduate Student Research Day. This year marked the fifth event in this annual series. Graduate students in the three academic departments of the School were invited to submit research posters for review and presentation. 

Five outstanding graduate student research posters were submitted and displayed during a one-hour research showcase. A full listing of research posters is included at the end of this article. A faculty committee selected and acknowledged two exceptional research posters. Authors of the selected posters gave oral presentations of their research, as well as received certificates and cash awards. Those winners were:

Two recipients of the Alice P. Killpatrick Fellowship joined in the 2018 graduate research showcase. Qun (Kelly) Zhang, a doctoral student in the Department of Family Sciences, presented her research on mortgage loans and financial security among middle aged and older Americans. Katelyn Eubank, a master’s student in the Department of Retailing and Tourism Management, shared her research poster entitled, “A Comparative Study of Aesthetic and Performance Properties of Hemp, Bamboo from Rayon, Organic Cotton and Tencel.”
