Professional Profile

Alex Elswick serves the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment and the School of Human and Environmental Sciences as an Extension Specialist for Substance Use Prevention and Recovery. He is also a PhD student in the Department of Family Sciences.

Alex came to the University of Kentucky in 2015 after receiving his BA from Centre College. He subsequently earned his MS at the University of Kentucky. Alex's background includes a cross-section of experience working as a psychotherapist, a teaching assistant, and a community activist.

Alex is also the co-founder of a non-profit organization that advocates for people in recovery from substance use disorders. His research agenda focuses on recovery from substance use disorders.
