Two students in the School of Human Environmental Sciences recently attended the 99th American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Annual Conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Both Elizabeth Creed and Amber Meeks received travel funding support through the Eugene L. Sisk Professional Development Grant program.

Elizabeth Creed is a May 2008 graduate with a B.S. in Family and Consumer Sciences.  A native of Taylorsville, Kentucky, Elizabeth plans to pursue a career as a Family and Consumer Sciences Extension agent.  She is currently employed as an extension summer intern.

Amber Meeks is a senior in Family and Consumer Sciences from Dunnville, Kentucky.  After graduation in December 2008, Amber also plans to pursue a career with Cooperative Extension.

The Eugene L. Sisk Professional Development Grant endowment was established by Dr. Peggy Meszaros, former Dean of the University of Kentucky College of Human Environmental Sciences in honor of her father.  The Sisk Professional Development Grant is open to members of the University of Kentucky Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (UKAFCS) Student Chapter. The recipient(s) of the Sisk Professional Development Grant must agree to attend the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Annual Meeting in its entirety and present a report of the meeting to the UAFCS Chapter and others, upon request.
