January 6th, faculty and staff from the School of Human Environmental Sciences gathered to celebrate accomplishments from 2011 and prepare for 2012. Individuals who received extramural funding in 2011 were recognized, along with the personnel who work to implement the funded projects. The 2011 list included 16 projects totaling more than $3.4 million. The School also recognized those with scholarly work published through refereed journal articles, Extension numbered-series publications, and refereed and conference abstracts. In 2011, 41 journal articles authored in part or in whole by HES faculty and staff were published --- an all-time high for recent years. Faculty who mentored graduate students through the completion of their thesis or dissertation as chair of their committee were also honored. In 2011, 17 theses and 2 dissertations were completed.
"It is rewarding to begin the spring semester by celebrating the accomplishments of our faculty and staff. We were delighted to have our work featured through 41 refereed journal articles in 2011, and we congratulate all of our faculty and staff who received external grants and published their work," shared Ann Vail, Director of the School of Human Environmental Sciences.
