Congratulations to the Plate It Up, Kentucky Proud project for receiving the Epsilon Sigma Phi Program Achievement Award for a Multi Area/State Team.

Plate it Up Kentucky Proud Team

The purpose of Plate It Up, Kentucky Proud is to increase consumer purchase, preparation, and preservation of Kentucky grown and value-added commodities through a creative ‘branded' marketing and educational collaboration.  The intent is to collectively combat obesity by targeting increased fruit and vegetable consumption through broader access from locally grown Kentucky Proud producers.  The need for the project grew from a need for healthy recipes to meet consumer demand to prepare more nutritious family meals.  Each original recipe, adapted and tested by nutrition students in the Department of Dietetics and Human Nutrition, provides a unique way to experience Kentucky's freshest local products.

The project is a collaboration involving the School of Human Environmental Sciences, Family and Consumer Sciences county programs and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.  Plate It Up, Kentucky Proud has been featured in the Lane Report, Edible Louisville, Farmer's Pride, Kentucky Monthly and Kentucky Living.

The School of Human Environmental Sciences congratulates the Plate It Up, Kentucky Proud team for their achievements and continued success.
