The 75th Anniversary of the Kentucky Extension Homemakers Association was celebrated at the Kentucky Capitol February 20, 2008. More than 300 KEHA members representing 55 of Kentucky’s 120 counties traveled to Frankfort for the festivities.
The Kentucky House of Representatives presented the group with an official “citation” signed by House Speaker Jody Richards and Representative Tanya Pullin. The citation stated, “The KEHA has, for the past seventy-five years, been counted among the organizations most vital to the strength and success of Kentucky’s women and their families through the remarkable compassion and tireless work of the organization’s 19,000 members.”
KEHA members observed the House and Senate in session from the galleries, participated in tours of the Capitol and Governor’s Mansion, met with legislators, and participated in a special program organized through the Office of the Attorney General. Senator Charlie Borders presented a citation in the Senate Chambers. Governor Steve Beshear joined KEHA members in the Capitol during the afternoon for a photo and offered his congratulations.
