Major: Merchandising, Apparel and Textiles

Internship Location: Caught Ya Lookin’, Lexington, Kentucky

What is your typical day as an intern? On a typical day as an intern, I come into the store and get working right away. Kristin, the owner, and I are always working on something. Whether it is social media, looking for new fabrics, dealing with customers, creating orders, organizing orders, etc., we are always busy. Even if it is a slow day in the store with customers, we always have something to do.

How are you using the applying classroom knowledge in your internship? Since Caugh Ya Lookin' is a family owned store and factory, we do everything required to make, sell and distribute a product. I am using all of my knowledge to be the best intern possible.

What is one key thing you have learned during your internship? I work with Kristin, the owner, therefore I am learning so much from her. I think the most important thing I have learned here is how to run a store. Kristin deals with everything possible here and she has taught me so much about wholesale and shows.

What advice would you share with other students who are preparing to complete an internship? Start looking for internships as soon as you can and apply to as many as possible.
