January 23 as Dr. Lisa Gaetke was beginning her lecture in a Nutrition and Food Science course, a few surprise guests entered her classroom. The representatives of the UK Alumni Association presented Dr. Gaetke with one of six 2008 Great Teacher Awards. The awards are presented annually through the alumni association in cooperation with Omicron Delta Kappa. This year marks the 47th anniversary of the recognition - the oldest, continuously given award for teaching on the UK campus.
Dr. Gaetke expressed her sincere appreciation and gratitude to the students who nominated her, "This is a tremendous honor for me. It is particularly meaningful because the nominations for this award come from students. " The formal recognition and presentation will take place February 19 at a banquet. Dr. Gaetke will join the other five recipients for recognition at center court during the UK/Georgia basketball game in Rupp Arena following the banquet.
The School of Human Environmental Sciences congratulates Dr. Gaetke for this recognition of her exceptional teaching!
