Dr. Ken Culp IIIThe School of Human Environmental Sciences is pleased to welcome Dr. Ken Culp III as an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Family Sciences.  Dr. Culp has served as Principal Extension Specialist for Volunteerism in the Department of 4-H Youth Development since 1999.  In this role, Dr. Culp provides direct support to 146 4-H agents who in turn utilize approximately 20,000 adult and 4,500 youth volunteers across Kentucky.

As an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Family Sciences, Dr. Culp will pursue collaborative research with departmental faculty, serve on graduate student committees, implement applied research relative to the needs of Kentucky families, and publish research findings in refereed journals.  Dr. Ron Werner-Wilson, Chair of the Department of Family Sciences, stated, “We are delighted to add Dr. Culp as an adjunct associate professor.  His extensive experience associated with 4-H and volunteerism will be an asset to our students and faculty.”

Dr. Culp was born and raised on a grain and livestock farm in Rensselaer, IN.  He received his B.S. and M.S. in Animal Sciences and his Ph.D. in Educational Foundations and Administration from Purdue University.  He has more than 25 years of experience in volunteer and non-profit administration, volunteer development and service activities, and leadership development.  Dr. Culp has presented more than 300 papers, abstracts, workshops, and seminars in 36 states, Canada, Japan, and South Korea, and has published 32 articles in various professional journals.
