Dr. Sandra Bastin and Dr. Ronald Werner-Wilson have been selected for the 2012-13 class for LEAD21, Leadership for the 21st Century.  The LEAD21 program is designed to develop leaders in land grant institutions and their strategic partners who link research, academics and extension.  Seventy-five participants are accepted each year for this national leadership development program.  Curriculum goals are to enhance skills and knowledge in nine leadership competencies, to develop a peer leadership network and to implement an individual leadership development process.

Dr. Sandra BastinDr. Bastin  is an Extension professor and currently serves as the Interim Chair of the Department of Nutrition and Food Science in the School of Human Environmental Sciences.  She is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Culinary Educator. Her Extension work focuses on providing leadership, technical expertise, program development, research, and grant writing support in nutrition, diet, and health; food safety; food preservation; and entrepreneurial food manufacturing.  She is a two-time University of Kentucky Wethington Award winner and recipient of the University of Kentucky Faculty Futures Award.

Dr. Ronald Werner-WilsonDr. Werner-Wilson  is the Chair of the Department of Family Sciences and Kathryn Louise Chellgren Endowed Professor for Research.  His research is focused in two areas: adolescence and marriage and family therapy process research.  Since joining the faculty at UK in 2007, he has worked to establish the Family Interaction Laboratory, a highly technical research facility that utilizes equipment to measure physiological arousal and electrical brain activity.  Dr. Werner-Wilson currently serves on the editorial boards for the Journal of Feminist Family Therapy and Contemporary Family Therapy.
