Professional Profile

Brooke Jenkins is an Extension Specialist with the Nutrition Education Program (NEP) at the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service, specializing in curriculum development. In this role, she collaborates with colleagues to develop and/or select nutrition education curriculum and resources for NEP assistants, Extension agents, partners, and volunteers. She provides training to develop the program delivery and professional skills of NEP Assistants and Extension professional staff.

Brooke has authored and coauthored numerous resources including several NEP adult and youth curricula--Healthy Choices for Every Body (an intervention accepted into the USDA SNAP-Ed Toolkit), Healthy Choices for Your Recovering Body, Families in the Kitchen...Cook Together, Eat Together, Recipes for LIfe, and LEAP...For Health. She has presented her work with NEP nationally at the Association of SNAP Nutrition Education Administrators Conference, the National Coordinators' Conference of the Expanded Nutrition Education Program, the NIFA Food and and Nutrition Webinar Series, and at the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Annual Conference.

Prior to her current position, Brooke worked for 13 years as a County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences in Grant and Magoffin Counties. In these roles, Brooke developed and delivered educational programs in family and child development; food, nutrition, and health; leadership development; and, financial education. She has worked extensively with NEP, supervising assistants and delivering education to limited resource audiences. She served as advisor to Extension volunteers and leaders at the local and area levels.

Brooke is a member of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. She is past president of Kentucky affiliate and has received the Kentucky Association of Family & Consumer Sciences Leader Award, New Achiever Award, and the Karen Davis-Parker Outstanding Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Agent Award. Brooke is a member and past-president of the Kentucky Association of State Extension Professionals. She was a member of the National Extension Association of Family & Consumer Sciences and received national recognition for Distinguished Service, environmental education, research, and communication awards. She is also a member of Epsilon Sigma Phi.
