The University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service is celebrating Kentucky Save$ Week this week, February 23-28, 2015. This statewide campaign encourages individuals and families to save money and build personal wealth and is part of the America Save$ program.
The celebration once again features recognition of the winners of a statewide youth piggy bank design contest. The contest provides a creative way for youth to learn the importance of saving money and reducing debt. Eleven winners representing the seven Extension districts have been selected from hundreds of creative piggy bank design entries. Those winning piggy banks are on display in the Kentucky Capitol near the Rotunda and will remain on display through the end of February.
Today, February 26, a special ceremony will be held in the Capitol Rotunda to recognize the youth winners from across the state. Winners include:
- Grace Adams, 5th grade, Henry County
- Jessica Conn, 12th grade, Fleming County
