A main goal in the Department of Retailing and Tourism Management (RTM) is to focus on globalization, and a new faculty exchange program will be a key part of this work. RTM recently announced the establishment of a faculty exchange with Shanghai Normal University (SHNU) in China.

Earlier this summer, nine students from the Department of Retailing and Tourism Management traveled to Jamaica with Dr. Desmond Brown, Associate Professor, as part of a study abroad course.
Twenty-three students majoring in merchandising, apparel and textiles recently traveled to New York City with Lecturer Mika Pryor as part of a departmental study tour. The five daylong course provided three hours of elective credit (MAT 480) and lasted from Saturday, February 13 to Wednesday, February 17.
Eight students from the Department of Retailing and Tourism Management (RTM) recently attended the National Retail Federation's (NRF) BIG Show in January, along with Dr. Scarlett Wesley, Associate Professor. The show was held January 15-17 in New York City and provided nearly 500 students from across the country a unique opportunity for career exploration. With attendance at the BIG Show, students don’t have to wait until graduation to learn about retail’s diverse career paths, build relationships or make connections in the industry.
The Retailing and Tourism Management (RTM) Club is a student organization with active engagement for networking, site visits, study tours and social interaction for its members. The club is a merged group formed from the previous Merchandising, Apparel and Textiles (MAT) Club and the Hospitality Management Association (HMA). It offers excellent opportunities for members to advance their professional career by networking with peers, alumni and business leaders in the Lexington community and surrounding areas.
