Professional Profile

Yolanda Jackson joined the Department of Dietetics and Human Nutrition in June 2016 as a Lecturer. She also serves as Program Assistant to the DHN Supervised Practice Program. Yolanda is a Registered Dietitian and is licensed by the state of Kentucky.

Yolanda earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from the University of Kentucky in 2008 and a Master of Science degree in Dietetics Administration also from the University of Kentucky in 2012. In the past Yolanda was awarded Lyman T. Johnson Torch Bearer (2006), UK Human Environmental Sciences Centennial Future 100 (2007), Outstanding Graduate Student of Excellence from the University of Kentucky Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics (2010) and was recognized as the Bluegrass Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Outstanding Dietetic Intern of the Year (2012). She was also recognized as the Bluegrass Academy of Nutrition and Dietetic Outstanding Young Dietitian of the Year (2013) during her first year as a Dietetic Practitioner.

Yolanda’s professional experience includes working as a Clinical Dietitian and as Lead Clinical Dietitian. During her time in the clinical setting, Yolanda worked with patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Telemetry Unit, Orthopedic Unit, the Wound Care Clinic and the Cardiopulmonary Outpatient Clinic. As a Clinical Dietitian, Yolanda also functioned as community faculty by serving as a preceptor for dietetic interns and an observer for senior dietetic students needing observation hours.

Yolanda is a member of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics (AND), Kentucky Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics (KAND), Bluegrass Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics (BGAND), and the American Society for Enteral and Parental Nutrition (ASPEN). In AND, she is a member of the Medical Nutrition practice group (MNPG), Dietitians in Nutrition Support practice group (DNS), and the National Organization of Blacks in Dietetics & Nutrition (NOBIDAN).
